Alcohol and Drug Use Disorders

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) was the first 12-step program, and was founded in 1935 in Akron, Ohio. Since then, the program has helped millions of people achieve sobriety. The 12 steps are centered around one’s spirituality and giving
control to a higher power in order to overcome addiction. The 12-step process adapts to one’s personal spirituality and doesn’t need to involve any particular religion.

By navigating the road to addiction recovery with 12 steps, you can learn self-forgiveness, positive-self talk and expression of emotions in an environment of transparency and trust.

The 12-step treatment modality includes surrendering guilt and blame for past behaviors and shortcomings. Treatment involves repenting for previous mistakes, apologizing to those you have hurt and taking responsibility for the future. Throughout the 12-step process, you’ll learn how to control your emotions, express anger, depression, and anxiety through positive outlets, and form lasting social circles. In order to create true change, the program requires profound honesty with yourself and your therapist.

What Are the 12 Steps?

The 12 steps demand introspection, swift conflict resolution, cathartic release, prompt admittance to wrongdoings, repentance and ultimately shepherding others with drug and alcohol use disorders through the 12-step process.

The 12 steps are as follows:

1. We admitted we were powerless over alcohol (or drugs) — that our lives had become unmanageable.

2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.

3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

7. Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these Steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

The 12-step program is lauded by thousands and widely practiced as an effective means of treatment for addiction. During therapy clients participate in group therapy, sharing traumatic life events, building community circles, and learn to engage meaningfully with others.

How Our 12-Step Program Works

As a complement to our other therapies, the 12-step program focuses largely on group connection. Group therapy elicits cathartic expression of current troubles, past traumas and the experience of addiction. The nature of sharing restores key functionality for interacting with others and maintaining healthy relationships after treatment. As you progress through the 12 steps you learn to avoid compromising sobriety at all costs. By completing the 12 steps, you’ll find yourself deeply in tune with your immediate, ongoing, and future needs to live a healthy, productive life — without the use of addictive substances.

Small Groups

Many of our clients prefer and do well in a group setting, which is a counseling group that generally includes 8 or more people. This is why we schedule group sessions every week, 3 nights a week from 12 – 8 PM. During group therapy, you will find a unique blend of Drug Addiction Treatment Modalities with evidence-based practices, experiential workshops, 12-step support, spiritual development, and life skills. Men and women of all walks of life benefit from group therapy and come to All Saints Recovery to become a part of our IOP

Virtual IOP

Attend outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment virtually! We provide customized programs that allow you to go to treatment without leaving your home. We offer individual therapy, and group therapy all from home! Online substance abuse treatment allows for individuals to seek an addiction treatment solution without leaving their home. All therapy and treatment is done through their phone, computer or other virtual device.

The main way patients and providers communicate have always been through in-person, face-to-face interactions. And this has been the method clinicians have used to engage in substance abuse treatment. Although it has shown itself to be effective, online treatment offers a new vision in the range of treatment for substance use disorders (SUDs).

The Role of Online Treatment in SUD Treatment

Online treatment can remove the limits of distance and time. Therefore, it has the potential to reinforce people’s treatment and recovery from substance abuse. Virtual substance abuse treatment can improve a patient’s connection to services. By doing that, it provides important support when they are away from the medical office and trying to make decisions about using or abstaining from using an addictive substance. In-person contacts could then be limited to group sessions or scheduled appointment times. So if you can’t go out, or don’t want to go out, for whatever reason, you are still able to receive treatment. In fact, studies show that online treatment has the possibility to change and improve the way substance use is rehabilitated and could reduce the number of people affected by the opioid epidemic we have in the U.S. vision in the range of treatment for substance use disorders (SUDs).

Removing the Limits

By putting online treatment techniques into practice, we remove the limits of geography, time, and stigma. This will improve patient access to addiction treatment services. These are a few of the ways: ● Patients that live in rural areas can get addiction treatment services in their homes or the office of a local medical provider instead of needing to drive long distances. ● Patients can avoid the stigma of being recognized as a patient at an addiction treatment facility. ● Because counselors may not be available when the patient needs them most. This is typically outside the treatment structure. But online treatment increases the counselor’s availability and provides timely support.
